The Church's Role in Supporting Refugees in Jordan
How Marka Church serves as a haven for Syrian and Iraqi refugees — with education, medical care, and a community that rebuilds dignity.

Jordan has become a refuge for families fleeing conflict in Syria and Iraq. More than 650,000 registered Syrian refugees live in the kingdom today — and countless others remain unregistered, navigating uncertainty without a clear path forward.
Marka Evangelical Church was founded in 2004 to meet that reality on the ground: not with slogans, but with schools, clinics, home visits, and a community that refuses to look away.
Mercy in daily practice
Our work begins where need is most visible. The Marka Educational Center welcomes children who have missed years of schooling. The community clinic offers dentistry, eye care, physiotherapy, and general medicine at costs families can bear. Volunteers walk into homes with food, medicine, and presence.
Each program shares one conviction: refuge is not a temporary shelter — it is the long work of restoring dignity, one family at a time.
A beacon that stays lit
Churches are uniquely positioned to bridge humanitarian aid and belonging. We are not only providers of services; we are neighbors who stay.
As displacement continues across the region, Marka Church remains committed to being a beacon of light — proving that mercy and truth can share the same address.
