About Us In 2014, Marka Church began an in-house project inspired by Pastor Haytham’s vision to support and create safe homes for Syrian and Iraqi refugees. The rise of ISIS forced many families to flee their homes. ISIS targeted believers by marking their houses with the symbol of the Nazarene (the Arabic letter, pronounced “noon”). Christians were faced with the impossible choice of converting to Islam or risking their lives. Many chose to seek refuge elsewhere.

Since 2014, Our Community Center offers affordable medical services including dentistry, eye care, physiotherapy, gynecology, and general medicine available throughout the week to serve the local community. We also provide free educational programs for refugees, sharing Christ’s love through compassionate care and practical support.

Project N engages and supports refugees. We welcome all who seek practical skills training in mosaics, embroidery, leatherwork, woodworking, soap making, and barbering. We sell their products and give all the profits, thus offering them a renewed sense of purpose and dignity. While meeting physical needs, we also focus on spiritual support. Through encouragement, counselling, and community involvement, participants strengthen their faith. Many become active members of our local church community.

Today, those we serve proudly wear the emblem, transforming a symbol once meant to instill fear into a symbol of freedom and honor. Their courage and faith remind the church to continue praying for the persecuted and supporting anyone in need.
